In Vegetables
According to a nutritionist I talk to the other day, lightly steamed broccoli is better than raw broccoli -- apparantly it's difficult for the body to digest and absorb the nutrients of raw broccoli, whereas a light steaming prepares it much better for digestion. I steam it with hardly enough water to cover the bottom of the pan and on an electric stovetop on high it takes a little less than 5 minutes from start to finish.
For a while my go-to was melting butter in a small bowl, adding salt and pepper, and then dipping each broccoli crown in the butter just before eating.
Thinking I might try to eliminate butter, I squeezed some fresh lemon on the crowns and added salt and pepper. It was pretty good.
Then I tried elminating the salt and pepper, and after squeezing the lemon on the crowns, I drizzled some honey on top. It was awesome!
The lemon and honey was great the first day and even better the second.
I may have found my go-to prep for broccoli.

In Cold Press Masticating Juicers
Yesterday at Walmart I purposely walked by the juicing section and on the endcap saw a $39 juicer (https://www.walmart.com/ip/Black-Decker-Quiet-Fruit-Vegetable-Juicer-JE2500B/562835942?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=0&wl13=3848&adid=22222222277562835942_117755028669_12420145346&wmlspartner=wmtlabs&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=501107745824&wl4=pla-306310554666&wl5=9029726&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=8175035&wl11=local&wl12=562835942&wl13=3848&veh=sem_LIA&gclsrc=aw.ds&&adid=22222222237562835942_117755028669_12420145346&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=501107745824&wl4=pla-306310554666&wl5=9029726&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=8175035&wl11=local&wl12=562835942&veh=sem&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQiAwP6sBhDAARIsAPfK_wbAbRmaa_85wCAH0pqNXuHYhEMFPf2TAMpooEUob_BxEe8ASz4PGzgaAh27EALw_wcB)from Black & Decker.
Because it had a unique design, I HAD to take it apart and hyper analyze the display unit.
And at that price, I HAD to buy one!
The issue might be, this is the 4th juicer I've purchased in seven weeks.
My first juicer.(https://www.amazon.com/AMZCHEF-Masticating-machines-Upgraded-Non-Clogging/dp/B0CMXNFSZP/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=1HR7I26NPIM0&keywords=Cold+Press+Juicer%2C+AMZCHEF+Compact+Slow+Masticating+Juicer%2C+3.3%22+Wide+Chute+juicer+machines%2C+Upgraded+Non-Clogging+Filter%2C+High+Yield+Juice%2C+250W+Power+%28Black%29&qid=1705002188&s=home-garden&sprefix=cold+press+juicer%2C+amzchef+compact+slow+masticating+juicer%2C+3.3+wide+chute+juicer+machines%2C+upgraded+non-clogging+filter%2C+high+yield+juice%2C+250w+power+black+%2Cgarden%2C287&sr=1-1-spons&ufe=app_do%3Aamzn1.fos.18630bbb-fcbb-42f8-9767-857e17e03685&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGY&psc=1)..
Loved this juicer but I wanted to try one with a bigger chute and slightly more powerful motor.
I gave it to my oldest grandkids who had shown an interest in juicing and replaced it with this one ($115) which is no longer available...
I also bought this one (https://www.amazon.com/Masticating-Machines-Cleaning-Included-BPA-Free/dp/B0CLD4BTBY/ref=sr_1_3?crid=39VJPZ4MUMTII&keywords=Cold%2BPress%2BJuicer%2C%2BAobosi%2BMini%2BMasticating%2BJuicer%2BMachines%2BEasy%2Bto%2BClean%2BSlow%2BJuicer%2BCompact%2BJuice%2BMachine%2Bwith%2BHigh%2BJuice%2BYield%2C%2BCleaning%2BBrush%2BIncluded%2C%2BBPA-Free%2C%2BBlack&qid=1705002622&sprefix=cold%2Bpress%2Bjuicer%2C%2Baobosi%2Bmini%2Bmasticating%2Bjuicer%2Bmachines%2Beasy%2Bto%2Bclean%2Bslow%2Bjuicer%2Bcompact%2Bjuice%2Bmachine%2Bwith%2Bhigh%2Bjuice%2Byield%2C%2Bcleaning%2Bbrush%2Bincluded%2C%2Bbpa-free%2C%2Bblack%2Caps%2C245&sr=8-3&ufe=app_do%3Aamzn1.fos.18630bbb-fcbb-42f8-9767-857e17e03685&th=1)for taking on our cruise next week because it's so small and lightweight...
Anyways, with what happened yesterday at Walmart, I'm wondering if I'm obsessed 😳

In Reasons To Eat
Seven weeks into the 5 phases and four weeks into Phase 3 -- continually amazed at what living without food cravings is like.
For the first time in my life I can actually listen to my body and only eat if I need to or should.
Since I always have enjoyed eating and now enjoy it even more, the one (somewhat sarcastic) "downside" to live food and being in Phase 3 is that my body just doesn't tell me very often that it needs food.

In Selective Dairy
Finally looked more closely at the ingredients in the cottage cheese I was buying.
Darigold from Costo...
... a lot of "extra stuff" including preservatives.
Great Value brand from Walmart...
...same "extra stuff" and preservatives.
But look at the Daisy brand...
...only three ingredients! Cultured skim milk, cream, and salt.
Looks like Daisy is the brand I'll be buying going forward!
